Taylor Cuzick’s racing career began at the age of 15. It
started when a close friend who raced dwarf cars on the local dirt track invited
Taylor to
assist him in his efforts. As Taylor
was exposed to this new world, he quickly developed an interest. This exposure
eventually enabled him to discover his own knack for racing. It was not long
before Taylor
acquired his own dwarf car and began competing. In his rookie season, he made a
name for himself and even took 1st place in a main event
The 2008 racing season marked a time of growth and progress
for Taylor. At
the young age of 16, he began to threaten the dominance of his older, more
experienced opponents. His talent was immediately evident as he took home 1st
place on the first race of the season. In July of that year, he dominated the
field at a two day racing event in Show Low, AZ - an impressive accomplishment
for someone who was unfamiliar with the track. This trend of success followed Taylor wherever he went.
In his first year of racing, he scored high in overall points and made his mark
on the dwarf car circuit.
The 2009 racing season brought new challenges for Taylor. His success
motivated him to move on to a more competitive arena of racing, ASA Speed
Trucks. He was welcomed into a world of higher horsepower, higher speed, and
tougher competition. His natural ability was apparent on the asphalt as he
became a fierce competitor in the ASA Speed Truck circuit. In 2009, Taylor also began to race
stock cars. It was not long before he was noticed. One driver, threatened by
his skill, intentionally attempted to run Taylor
off the track! He was unaffected by this unethical stunt and went on to finish
the race.
In 2010, Taylor and his team decided three weeks prior to
the All Star Nascar Race in Irwindale,
CA to make preparations to
compete. Without a car and with little time, they scrambled to get the all the
pieces in place. They enlisted the help of dedicated manufacturers and
technicians from diverse areas of the country. The car was completed just two
days before their departure to Irwindale. Initially, the new car, track, and
atmosphere were a challenge for Taylor
and the first practice runs were not encouraging. He continued to practice and
gradually improved as he became more familiar with the car and track. With this
improvement, he qualified 26th out of 50th for the big
race. Taylor
attacked the field with speed and intensity. Unfortunately, many of his
advancements were taken away because of unrelated cautions on other portions of
the track. Despite this setback, Taylor
advanced as high as 11th place and finished 14th, passing
eleven of his opponents.
Taylor
continued to compete in the ASA Speed Truck circuit in 2010. The first race of
the season he qualified 1st! Through an unlucky throw of the dice,
however, he was forced to start in the 8th position. Taylor knew the 1st
position was not out of reach and adamantly weaved his way through the field. After
75 laps, the 100 lap race was cut short. Taylor
had passed six of his opponents, earning him 2nd place.
Taylor and his team
continue to pursue excellence in several arenas of racing. Keep your eye on
Taylor Cuzick, greater success awaits him in the future.
